Définition

Webhooks pattern : (1) Subscriber registers URL via API, (2) Provider sends POST avec payload JSON + signature HMAC, (3) Subscriber répond 200, (4) Retry logic en cas échec. Standards émergents : Standard Webhooks (Initiative 2023, github.com/standard-webhooks), CloudEvents (CNCF). Adoption Stripe, GitHub, Twilio, Slack, AWS EventBridge. Replay protection via signature + idempotency.

Concept Webhooks introduit par Jeff Lindsay 2007 ; massification ~2010 avec Stripe, GitHub ; OpenAPI 3.1 webhooks formalises 2021.

Exemple en contexte

Stripe envoie POST /webhooks/stripe avec event.type=invoice.paid + signature HMAC SHA256 ; serveur client valide signature, retourne 200 en moins de 5s.
