Ricevuta di consegna (SdI delivery receipt)

The ricevuta di consegna is the receipt by which Italy's SdI confirms that a validated invoice was successfully delivered to the recipient.

Definition

The ricevuta di consegna ("delivery receipt") is the notification issued by the Sistema di Interscambio (SdI) when an invoice that has passed the checks is actually delivered to the recipient.

It is the proof that the invoice successfully completed the whole process: validation, then delivery to the customer's electronic address (codice destinatario or PEC).

Role in the lifecycle

In the normal flow, after an invoice has been accepted by the SdI, two main outcomes are possible:

  • successful delivery, evidenced by the ricevuta di consegna;
  • impossibility of delivery (mancata consegna), when the SdI cannot reach the recipient and makes the invoice available in its online area.

The ricevuta di consegna therefore confirms the successful completion of the transmission.

Content and evidential value

The receipt notably indicates the identifier assigned to the invoice by the SdI and the timestamp of delivery. It has evidential value: it attests to the date on which the invoice was made available to the recipient, which can be useful in the event of a dispute over receipt.

Good to know

The ricevuta di consegna does not mean the customer has read or commercially accepted the invoice: it only attests to its technical delivery. It is distinct from the notifica di scarto (rejection) and the notifica di mancata consegna (failed delivery); together, these notifications make up the lifecycle tracking of an invoice transiting through the SdI.
