EGS Unit

Invoice-generation unit of ZATCA e-invoicing, Phase 2.

Definition

An EGS Unit is the concrete unit (cash register, point of sale, ERP instance) that produces electronic invoices. Each unit is onboarded separately: it generates a CSR containing the TIN (Organisation Identifier) and the EGS serial number, then receives its own CSID. The EGS computes the UUID, ICV, PIH and hash of each invoice.

Origin

Defined by ZATCA in the "E-Invoicing Detailed Technical Guidelines" (Version 2, FATOORA, Nov. 2022).

Example in context

The CSR's Common Name field identifies the EGS, e.g. EGS1-886431145-Riyadh-POS-01, tied to the serial number declared at onboarding.

  • CSID — certificate held by the EGS.
  • PIH — hash computed by the EGS to chain invoices.
