X12 861
X12 861 transaction set, the receiving-side counterpart of the Advance Ship Notice.
Definition
Issued by the receiver, the 861 confirms the quantities actually received and accepted and reports shortages, overages or damage. It reuses the 856's HL loops (Shipment/Order/Item) to reconcile received against announced line by line, closing the order→ship→receive loop.
Origin
Defined in the ASC X12 Transaction Set Implementation Guides (Transaction Set 861, Receiving Advice/Acceptance Certificate), maintained by the Accredited Standards Committee X12 under ANSI.
Example in context
RCD**6*EA*6*EA~ (six ordered, six received — receipt with no line-level discrepancy)
