Definition
UIB is defined by ISO 9735-2 (Interactive EDI). It carries the syntax (S001), session sender and receiver (S002, S003), the interchange control reference (S302), and a dialogue reference (S303). Remains rare in production — most partners stick with batch + AS2.
Origin
Introduced by ISO 9735-2 in 1998. Interactive EDIFACT was initially targeted at SWIFT terminals, IATA reservations and GS1 transactions, but has largely been replaced by REST APIs and SOAP/AS4.
