Definition

Since the Standards Release 2018 redesign, the MT760 is the common issuance message for both demand guarantees and standby letters of credit, structured by field 22D (Form of Undertaking). Its transmission constitutes issuance of the instrument itself; the count of mandatory fields rose from 5 to 13.

Defined in the SWIFT User Handbook, Category 7 — Documentary Credits and Guarantees/Standby Letters of Credit (ISO 15022 / MT-FIN format), maintained by Swift. Governed, as applicable, by the ICC URDG 758 or ISP98.
