Peppol SML
DNS-based root locator of the Peppol network.
Definition
The SML is the single central registry for the Peppol network. From the receiver's identifier, the sending AP derives a domain name (hash + Peppol zone) resolved via DNS to discover the relevant SMP's URL, then queries that SMP for service metadata.
Origin
Based on the OASIS Business Document Metadata Service Location (BDXL) specification, profiled by OpenPeppol's Peppol Service Metadata Locator (SML) Specification.
Example in context
The AP builds B-<md5(identifier)>.iso6523-actorid-upis.edelivery.tech.ec.europa.eu and resolves the DNS record to obtain the SMP address.
