ORDER-GROUPING
Order grouping. See official source.
Definition
Order grouping — practice of grouping several EDI orders (ORDERS / 850) into a single interchange or single multi-line message, to reduce operational friction.
Origin
Practice documented in GS1 retail guides and Odette MIGs. Grouping maximises interchange utilisation; it is capped by the partner's max admissible size (often 50 MB).
Use
A purchasing centre groups 200 ORDERS over a day into a single EDIFACT UNB containing 200 ORDERS messages; the partner unpacks downstream, cycle time drops by 40 %.
