OpenPeppol is the organization that defines, maintains and enforces the rules of the PEPPOL network.

OpenPeppol is an international non-profit association that provides governance for the PEPPOL network (Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line). It owns and evolves the technical specifications and the agreement frameworks that make the network interoperable.
Its role
- Maintain the PEPPOL specifications (transaction profiles, document format, exchange protocol).
- Manage the contractual framework and the accreditation of providers offering access points to the network.
- Safeguard interoperability and compliance so that any participant can exchange with any other participant.
Good to know
PEPPOL is used for the secure exchange of electronic business documents (invoices, orders) between governments and businesses in many countries. OpenPeppol operates through a network of national or sector-specific PEPPOL Authorities and a community of members.
