NERP

OFTP2 negative response, delivery failure.

Definition

The NERP is the negative counterpart of the EERP: it is created either by an intermediate node unable to relay the file any further, or by the final node unable to process it. It carries a reason code and its creator's identification so the sender can react. Like the EERP, it must be signed (CMS) if the sender had requested a signed acknowledgement via SFIDSIGN.

Origin

Defined in §3.3.6 of RFC 5024 (IETF, 2007); signing relies on CMS (RFC 5652). Maintained by ODETTE International.

Example in context

NERP NERPDSN=ORDERS_2026_0620 NERPCREA=O0013RELAYX NERPREAS=11 (reason: cannot transfer)
