NF Z42-013
Evidential electronic-archiving standard, the French reference.
Definition
NF Z42-013 sets out the technical and organisational controls of an EAS: digital fingerprints (hashes), sealing, event logging and traceability, so that once archived a document cannot be altered without detection. It structures the ingest, retention, retrieval and disposal functions.
Origin
Published by AFNOR (committee CN 171); its 2009 version was transposed internationally as ISO 14641-1 (2012), now ISO 14641.
Example in context
An NF Z42-013-certified EAS computes the SHA-256 fingerprint of each ingested invoice and records it in a sealed log: any later tampering breaks the fingerprint and voids the evidential value.
