MT-TAG-32B
MT tag 32B is the SWIFT composite carrying Currency (3c ISO 4217) and Settled Amount with no value date, on specific MT 1xx/2xx/9xx messages.
Definition
Tag 32B is mostly used on messages where the date is carried elsewhere or is irrelevant (e.g. an MT 940 where movement dates appear per :61: line). Format: ISO 4217 + decimal amount.
Origin
Introduced alongside 32A in the first MT spec. The A/B/D split addresses different business needs.
Use
On an MT 940 Customer Statement Message, tag 32B carries the closing balance without repeating the date: :32B:EUR1234567,89. The date is read from tag 64 (Closing Available Balance) or 28C (Statement Number).
