MT-TAG-30
MT tag 30 carries the Execution / Value Date in AAMMJJ format on 6 characters; meaning differs by MT message type.
Definition
On an MT 304 (Forex confirmation), it is the contract value date. On an MT 502 (Order to Buy/Sell), it is the expected execution date. The SWIFT spec fixes the alphabet (pure numeric) and length (6 characters).
Origin
Present since the inception of the MT spec. The YYMMDD convention (no century) is a legacy of 1970s telex constraints, which caused minor Y2K issues in 2000.
Use
In an MT 304 FX confirmation, tag 30 reads :30:260514 (14 May 2026). This tag is translated in ISO 20022 pacs.008 by the IntrBkSttlmDt field with the full date in ISO 8601 format.
