MT-TAG-23B
MT tag 23B carries the 4-character Bank Operation Code that qualifies the nature of the operation (CRED, SPRI, SSTD, CRTS) on an MT 103.
Definition
Tag 23B distinguishes operational variants of a Single Customer Credit Transfer: CRED standard, CRTS test, SPRI Single Priority Inhibits, SSTD Standard. These codes are not free: they are fixed by SWIFT.
Origin
Introduced with the MT 1xx refresh in the early 2000s, in the context of Service Level Agreements and the first SWIFT gpi version.
Use
On an urgent intra-European bank payment one reads :23B:SPRI. On a connectivity test, :23B:CRTS. ERP gateways must generate this code based on the business operation type declared by the originator.
