MPAN
Great Britain electricity meter-point identifier (MRA).
Definition
The MPAN comprises a top line of 8 digits (Profile Class, Meter Time-Switch Code, Line Loss Factor) and a bottom line of 13 digits (Distributor ID, unique reference, check digit). It is looked up via the ECOES database and flows through GB retail market data flows.
Origin
Defined under the Master Registration Agreement (MRA) governing the Great Britain electricity retail market; introduced in 1998 with market liberalisation.
