MasterFormat structures 50 Divisions, ~3500 Sections (8-digit code MM-NN-NN-NN). Main divisions: 03 Concrete, 04 Masonry, 05 Metals, 06 Wood, 07 Thermal Moisture Protection, 08 Openings, 09 Finishes, 22 Plumbing, 23 HVAC, 26 Electrical. Annual update by CSI + Construction Specifications Canada (CSC). Distinct from OmniClass which covers WBS.
Origin
MasterFormat first edition 1963 by CSI ; redesign from 16 to 50 Divisions in 2004.
