KERBEROS
Kerberos authentication. See official source.
Definition
Kerberos — network authentication service based on encrypted tickets and a Key Distribution Center (KDC), specified by RFC 4120 (July 2005). Pivot of Windows Active Directory.
Origin
Designed at MIT under Project Athena (1980s), Kerberos is now at version 5 (RFC 4120) and widely used in enterprise intranets for user and service authentication.
Use
In EDI, Kerberos authenticates internal agents that trigger flows (ERP ↔ EDI gateway integration) on Windows domains; it is usually not exposed to external partners.
