Definition
Ctry (and CtryOfRes) carry the 2-letter country code from ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. The same code forms the first two characters of an IBAN and the country embedded in a BIC, keeping routing and compliance checks consistent across payments.
Origin
Country codes defined by ISO 3166-1 (alpha-2), maintained by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency; reused in IBAN (ISO 13616) and BIC (ISO 9362).
