pacs.004

ISO 20022 message in the pacs family, interbank payment return.

Definition

pacs.004 (PaymentReturn) reverses an earlier payment (pacs.008 or pacs.009) after it has settled, unlike a pre-settlement rejection (pacs.002 RJCT). Each TxInf echoes the OrgnlGrpInf and OrgnlTxId, carries the RtrdIntrBkSttlmAmt and a coded RtrRsnInf (e.g. AC04 account closed). The original creditor becomes the returning agent.

Origin

Defined in the ISO 20022 Payments Clearing and Settlement Message Definition Report (ISO TC 68/SC 9), Registration Authority SWIFT; CBPR+ profile for cross-border returns.
