MDR
The reference document for ISO 20022 messages.
Definition
An MDR is the specification deliverable produced for each ISO 20022 candidate message set. It documents the message model (UML), message definitions, components, XPath-style element paths, multiplicities and business rules. It is the authoritative source from which the XSD schemas are generated.
Origin
Published under the ISO 20022 registration process (ISO TC 68/SC 9), evaluated by the Standards Evaluation Groups and approved by the Registration Management Group; downloadable from iso20022.org.
Example in context
The “Payments Clearing and Settlement” MDR covers messages pacs.002 through pacs.010; for pacs.008 it lists each element, its type, multiplicity (e.g. CdtTrfTxInf 1..n) and the associated rules.
