ISO 20022 Data Dictionary

Part of the ISO 20022 repository that ensures semantic consistency across messages.

Definition

The Data Dictionary holds the reusable Message Components, Message Elements and Data Types (e.g. ActiveCurrencyAndAmount, BICFIDec2014Identifier) shared by all messages. Together with the Business Model it forms the ISO 20022 repository maintained by the Registration Authority.

Origin

Defined in ISO 20022-1 and published by the Registration Authority (SWIFT) on iso20022.org.

Example in context

The BICFI element used in pacs.008 and camt.053 comes from the same Data Dictionary Data Type, guaranteeing identical semantics across messages.
