Seller delivers alongside ship FAS.
Definition
FAS is exclusively maritime (not for multimodal containers — use FCA). Seller bears all costs and risks to the quay. Buyer bears on-board loading and beyond. Used for pipelines, heavy machinery, bulk grain.
Origin
Present since Incoterms 1936 ; quasi-unchanged in 2020.

An Argentine wheat producer sells FAS Buenos Aires to a European trader — delivers 50K tons to the Rio de la Plata quay.
