IETF operates by Working Groups (~150 active), publishes ~150-200 RFCs/year. Process: Internet-Draft → IESG review → Standards Track RFC (Proposed/Draft/Standard) or Informational/Experimental/BCP. Critical EDI RFCs: RFC 4130 (AS2), RFC 7942 (AS4), RFC 2616 (HTTP/1.1), RFC 9110 (HTTP/3 semantics), RFC 8259 (JSON). Maintained by Internet Society (ISOC).

IETF founded January 1986 (first meeting San Diego) ; Internet Society affiliation since 1992.
