AI (10) Batch/Lot

GS1 Application Identifier (10), lot traceability.

Definition

AI (10) identifies the production lot associated with a GTIN, a key element of product recalls and food and pharmaceutical traceability. It is variable length (1 to 20 characters): when it is not the last field in the string it must be followed by an FNC1 separator.

Origin

Defined in section 3.2 of the GS1 General Specifications (Application Identifier definitions), maintained by GS1.
