Fog Computing layers (IEEE 1934): Cloud (centralised, hours-days tolerable latency), Fog (regional, sub-second tolerable), Edge (device-local, sub-millisecond). OpenFog Reference Architecture published 2017. Differs from Edge Computing: Fog formalises intermediate layer between edge and cloud, Edge focused on device. IEEE 1934 published 2018 by IEEE Standards Association ; OpenFog Consortium absorbed by IIC (Industrial Internet Consortium) 2018, became OpenFog Working Group.
