Maximum Repetition
Cardinality limit in a UN/EDIFACT message structure.
Definition
Each line of a message structure shows, next to the status, a repetition count (for example 1, 9, 99, 200000) that bounds the number of allowed occurrences. A count greater than 1 marks a repeatable segment or group; implementation guidelines may lower this maximum but never raise it beyond the standard.
Origin
The repetition factor is part of the message structure definitions published in UNTDID (UN/CEFACT) and rests on the ISO 9735 syntax.
Example in context
In ORDERS, the FTX segment is marked C 99 (up to 99 occurrences) and the SG26 group is marked C 200000.
