CUSCAR
UN/EDIFACT customs manifest message (Customs Cargo Report).
Definition
CUSCAR permits the transfer of cargo data from a carrier to Customs for import/export cargo, onward transit/transhipment, empty containers and house/master bill relationships. Customs also uses it for selectivity processing to flag high-risk shipments.
Origin
UN/EDIFACT UNSM published in the UNECE (UN/CEFACT) UNTDID directories, e.g. release D.20B on service.unece.org.
Example in context
An ocean carrier sends a CUSCAR to Customs before vessel arrival; the BGM segment carries code 85 (manifest) and each CNI/GID describes a consignment and its goods.
