AWS proprietary Docker orchestrator, predating Managed Kubernetes.

Definition

ECS defines Task Definitions (JSON describing image, ports, volumes), Services (group of identical tasks with auto-scaling), and Clusters. Integrated with ALB for HTTP routing, IAM for permissions, CloudWatch for logs. Preferred when the team does not want to manage Kubernetes.

Launched by AWS at re:Invent 2014, GA in April 2015.
