Legacy intra-EU VAT periodic reporting, forerunner of DRR.
Definition
The recapitulative statement aggregates intra-EU supplies and services per customer VAT number over a period (month or quarter). It feeds the VIES cross-checking system between Member States. Known as DES/DEB in France and EC Sales List in the United Kingdom.
Origin
Provided for by Articles 262 to 265 of Council VAT Directive 2006/112/EC; the cross-checking mechanism relies on the VIES (VAT Information Exchange System).
