P-Mode

Core configuration concept of ebMS 3.0 and the AS4 profile.

Definition

A P-Mode bundles every parameter agreed between two MSHs (Message Service Handlers): the MEP, security (WS-Security signing/encryption), receipts, party agents (From/To), service and action. It is never sent on the wire: each partner configures it locally and aligns it with its counterparty's.

Origin

Defined in section 4 ("PMode parameters") of the OASIS ebMS 3.0 Core Specification Part 1 (Version 3.0), published by the OASIS ebXML Messaging Services Technical Committee.

Example in context

PMode.MEP = oneWay ; PMode.MEPbinding = Push ; PMode[1].Security.X509.Sign = true ; PMode[1].BusinessInfo.Service = noprocess

  • ebMS 3.0 — the messaging spec that defines the P-Mode.
  • AS4 — profile that restricts which P-Mode parameters are allowed.
