DANFE
Auxiliary document of the Brazilian NF-e, fiscal compliance.
Definition
The DANFE is not the invoice itself (the legal document remains the SEFAZ-authorised NF-e XML) but its printable representation. It carries the 44-digit chave de acesso both in plain text and as a Code-128C barcode, letting anyone locate and verify the authorised XML.
Origin
Defined by Ajuste SINIEF 07/2005 and the NF-e Manual de Orientação do Contribuinte (MOC), published by CONFAZ / ENCAT and the state tax authorities (SEFAZ).
Example in context
DANFE header: "CHAVE DE ACESSO 3526 0514 ..." + Code-128C barcode; note "Consulta de autenticidade no portal nacional da NF-e".
