CUTOVER-WINDOW
Cutover window. See Enterprise Integration Patterns.
Definition
Cutover window — planned time window during which an EDI flow switches from one format/protocol to another (X12 → EDIFACT, AS2 → AS4, historical partner → new partner). Typically tied to a weekend.
Origin
Standard change management practice documented by ITIL and PRINCE2. In EDI, the cutover window is planned and communicated to the partner at least 30 days in advance, with a rollback plan.
Use
Switching a partner from AS2 to AS4: Friday 21:00-01:00, AS2 is shut down, PEPPOL AS4 activated, three signed test INVOICs are replayed, production resumes Monday 06:00.
