Definition

CSRD scope: Initial 2024 large public-interest entities (>500 employees), 2025 large companies (>250 employees), 2026 listed SMEs, 2028 third-country undertakings (EU revenue >150M). Standards: 12 ESRS published by EFRAG July 2023 (ESRS 1-2 cross-cutting, ESRS E1-E5 environment, ESRS S1-S4 social, ESRS G1 governance). Format: Digital ESEF (European Single Electronic Format) with XBRL taxonomy. Initially limited assurance, reasonable subsequently.

CSRD adopted 14 December 2022 ; OJEU publication 16 December 2022 ; Member States transposition by 6 July 2024 ; fiscal year 2024 report published 2025.
