2018 bridge between CommonWell and Carequality, US backbone.
Definition
The bridge uses IHE XCPD (Cross-Community Patient Discovery) and XCA (Cross-Community Access) on SOAP transport. In 2023, CommonWell became a QHIN candidate under TEFCA and Carequality evolved its framework toward the Common Agreement. The bridge remains essential for EHR customers (Epic, athenahealth, Cerner, eClinicalWorks).

Bridge announced December 2016 between CommonWell (2013) and Carequality (2014), production July 2018.
Usage
Clinical document exchange between 30,000+ clinical sites in the US. Gradual migration toward TEFCA QHIN-to-QHIN starting 2024.
