Definition
CIP is a 7-digit (CIP-7) or 13-digit (CIP-13, since 2009) identifier assigned by ANSM to each medicinal product presentation marketed in France. EAN-13 barcode mandatory on boxes for traceability.
Origin
Established by AFSSAPS (became ANSM in 2012). CIP-13 introduced with the regulatory Datamatrix transition.
