Blanket Order
Order-lifecycle concept, conveyed in EDIFACT through the BGM order-type code.
Definition
A blanket order fixes a negotiated volume and price over a duration, without a firm delivery schedule. It is not a separate message type: in EANCOM it is sent as an ORDERS whose BGM element 1001 carries 221 (blanket order). Actual deliveries are then triggered by call-off orders that reference the blanket order via RFF.
Origin
Document type coded in UNCL 1001 (Document/message name code) of the UNTDID directory (UN/EDIFACT); business usage described in the GS1 EANCOM guides.
Example in context
<BGM+221+BLK-2026-007+9' (221 = blanket order)
