BIWG maintains WCPOLS (policy), WCCRIT (criticism response), DCI (Detailed Claim Information) EDI standards. Coordinates with NCCI WCSTAT, WCRATING evolutions, harmonization of Class Codes between independent bureaus and NCCI. Quarterly meetings, annual spec updates.

Origin

Formed in the 1980s under NCCI + Independent Bureaus, public BIWG charter.

Usage

All US WC carriers must support WCPOLS / DCI / WCCRIT for reporting to competent bureaus.
