Definition
The eBL is carried by DCSA Standards (Maersk, MSC, CMA, COSCO, Hapag-Lloyd, ZIM, ONE). JSON-LD schemas + qualified signature. Adopted by G7 summit 2022. ICC publishes eBLR (Electronic Bill of Lading Rules). 30% of BLs already dematerialised in 2025.

Paper BL used since the 16th century ; eBL standardised by DCSA since 2021.
