Industrial EDI — Krka, Gorenje, Revoz, Talum, Acroni
Slovenian industry — a legacy of the heavily industrialised Yugoslav socialist fabric — rests on five EDI-heavy verticals: pharma (Krka tovarna zdravil, Novo mesto — one of Central Europe's largest generic makers), white goods (Gorenje Velenje, acquired by Hisense Group in 2018), automotive (Revoz/Renault Novo mesto — Twingo, Clio, Captur, ~120,000 vehicles/year), aluminium (Talum Kidričevo) and steel (Acroni Jesenice, SSAB Group). All deployed EDIFACT D.01B in the 1990-2000s, with progressive automotive migration to OFTP2 over ENX.
History — pharma EDIFACT + Renault Revoz 1995
Slovenian industry has an early and well-documented EDI history. Krka, founded in 1954 in Novo mesto, grew into a major Central European generic player from the 1980s with an export-focused model first targeting the USSR and then Russia and Poland. EDIFACT INVOIC + ORDERS deployment across its supplier and distributor network started late 1995, in parallel with the pre-accession EU GMP certification effort. Technical governance was jointly led by ZZI (GZS line) and Krka IT.
On the automotive side, Revoz Novo mesto (Renault Slovenia subsidiary since 1988, ex-IMV) was one of the first Central European industrials to plug into the ODETTE / OFTP1 network in the early 1990s — naturally, since the Renault group enforced OFTP as standard protocol across all production sites. OFTP2 (RFC 5024) migration over ENX (European Network Exchange) happened between 2003 and 2008. The plant now assembles Twingo III, Clio V and Captur II, ~120,000 vehicles/year, with a dense local supplier network (TPV, Mahle Sloga, Iskra) all on OFTP2.
1989-1992 | Revoz Novo mesto (Renault Slovenia subsidiary since 1988,
| ex-IMV) deploys ODETTE + OFTP1 for ORDERS + DESADV
| with its European Renault supplier network. First
| industrial EDI in Slovenia (pre-independence).
|
1995-2000 | Krka Novo mesto (generic pharma) rolls out EDIFACT
| INVOIC + ORDERS on its Slovenian suppliers and export
| network (Germany, Russia, Poland). Initial VAN: ZZI
| (GZS line). Gorenje Velenje (white goods) implements
| EDIFACT for its Spar AT and MediaMarkt distribution
| chains.
|
2003-2008 | ODETTE → OFTP2 (RFC 5024) migration on the ENX
| (European Network Exchange) network for Revoz. Eleven
| Slovenian suppliers of the Renault group switch over:
| Mahle Sloga, TPV, Adria Mobil (de facto Renault
| subcontract in the 2000s), Iskra Avtoelektrika.
|
2010-2015 | Adria Mobil (motorhomes Novo mesto) and TPV (stamping
| Novo mesto) become direct suppliers of several OEMs
| (Daimler, Stellantis, VW). OFTP2 adoption generalises
| among Slovenian auto subcontractors. Talum (aluminium
| Kidričevo) rolls out EDIFACT for the canning sector.
|
2018 | Gorenje acquired by Hisense Group (China) — forms
| Hisense Europe with HQ in Velenje. Gorenje EDI flows
| move under Hisense governance, but EDIFACT EANCOM 2002
| S4 stays in place for the EU perimeter.
|
2020-2024 | Acroni (steel Jesenice, SSAB Group since 2018)
| finalises its EDIFACT migration for European stainless
| client flows. Renault Revoz produces Twingo + Clio +
| Captur at Novo mesto (~120,000 vehicles/year), still
| the densest EDI plant in Slovenia.
|
2025-2026 | No standard upheaval planned. Coexistence OFTP2
| (automotive ENX) + EANCOM 2002 S4 (retail + pharma)
| + e-SLOG 2.0 (final e-invoicing via UJP). Governance — Odette + ZZI + GS1 Healthcare
The automotive sector follows Odette International governance (formerly European Automotive Network Exchange), based in Brussels, which maintains OFTP2 and the JAIF/MMOG-LE standards applied across Renault, Stellantis, VW. The ENX network (ENX Association, Frankfurt) operates the technical SLA and the inter-OEM PKI. On the Slovenian side, ZZI Zavod is the main operational relay for SME suppliers (Adria Mobil, TPV, Iskra).
The pharmaceutical sector follows GS1 Healthcare (Brussels) for ATP/CRSPCS traceability and EANCOM 2002 S4 for logistics. Krka uses SADTC (Slovenian Drug Tracking & Compliance) standards jointly run by JAZMP (Slovenian Medicines Agency) and FURS for specific taxation.
White goods (Gorenje, acquired by Hisense Europe in 2018) apply EANCOM 2002 GS1 standards across their distribution chains (Spar AT, MediaMarkt DE, Conforama FR, Decathlon). Aluminium (Talum) and steel (Acroni) follow Eurofer / European Aluminium industrial standards.
Technical schema — OFTP2 ENX + EANCOM pharma
Two technical profiles coexist by vertical:
- OFTP2 RFC 5024 over ENX — automotive (Revoz, TPV, Adria Mobil, Iskra). AES-256 encryption, X.509-SHA256 signature, ZLIB compression, TCP 6619 transport (OFTP2/HTTP).
- EANCOM 2002 S4 — pharma (Krka), white goods (Gorenje), aluminium (Talum). INVOIC, ORDERS, DESADV, PRICAT messages identical to retail but with different sub-types.
- SSID Code — OFTP2 address: country prefix + ICD 0177 (Slovenian matična) + sender code. E.g.
O0177KRKAfor Krka,O0049RENAULT-NMSfor Revoz (under Renault SSID). - UNCL5189 codes — INVOIC message types: 380 = standard, 381 = credit note, 384 = correction. Same as retail flows.
- e-SLOG 2.0 / PEPPOL BIS 3.0 — for final e-invoicing toward public administrations (public clients + B2G subcontracting).

Adoption — ~80 OFTP2 endpoints, ~340 EDIFACT industrials
- ~80 active OFTP2 endpoints in Slovenia — all on ENX, Renault Revoz perimeter + Daimler/Stellantis/VW subcontracting via Adria Mobil and TPV.
- ~340 industrial EDIFACT users outside auto: pharma (Krka, Lek/Sandoz, Iskra Medical), white goods (Gorenje, BSH), aluminium (Talum), steel (Acroni, Štore Steel, Metal Ravne), paper (Vipap Krško), wood (Lesonit).
- ~95 million messages/year aggregated OFTP2 automotive + EANCOM industrial — Odette + GS1 Slovenia + ZZI 2024 estimate.
- Krka: ~12M messages/year — the largest industrial EDI sender in Slovenia, across its ~120-supplier network and ~250 EU distributors.
- Revoz: ~28M messages/year (ORDERS + DESADV + INVOIC + DELFOR + AVIEXP) — the largest OFTP2 volume in the country, tied to Twingo/Clio just-in-time production.
Common pitfalls
- Malformed OFTP2 SSID. The Slovenian automotive
SSID Code must be
O0177XXX(country prefix O0 Odette + ICD 0177 matična + short code). Many Slovenian SME suppliers wrongly useO0049(Germany) inherited from Renault Pitesti templates. - Renault EDIFACT sub-version. Revoz requires a Renault D.01B variant (RENAULT-D.01B) with specific QTY, IMD and REF codes. A generic non-customised D.01B is rejected by the central Renault SI.
- Confusing ENX and public Internet. OFTP2 can run over the public Internet (HTTPS port 6619), but OEMs enforce ENX for SLA reasons. Pointing an Internet-based OFTP2 at an ENX partner = instant ENX directory rejection.
- EDIFACT → e-SLOG conversion. When Krka issues an EDIFACT D.01B INVOIC to a public client (UJP via UKC Ljubljana hospital), conversion to e-SLOG 2.0 or PEPPOL BIS 3.0 is required. ZZI's native conversion preserves semantics but must be parameterised with the correct ICD 0177.
- Renault JIT — 30-minute window. Revoz produces just-in-time: DELFOR (call-offs) have a 30-minute delivery window, failure = automatic penalty. Synchronous NTP clocks are critical.
